On the eve of the 2024 Melbourne Cup, I had the honor of attending a reception at Government House Victoria, hosted by Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria. The event brought together a diverse crowd of horse owners, fashion enthusiasts, and members of the Millinery Association of Australia Inc., all celebrating the spirit of the Cup. The grandeur and majestic surroundings of Government House provided the perfect backdrop for an evening dedicated to showcasing Australia’s millinery talent and equestrian passion.
One highlight of the event was the Millinery Association of Australia's display, featuring exquisite headpieces and hats that exemplified creativity and craftsmanship. Renowned Master Milliner Peter Jago also presented his custom pieces that transported us to a bygone era, reminding us of the timeless allure of millinery. Surrounded by this community of dedicated artists and enthusiasts, I felt inspired and excited to witness the intersection of fashion, tradition, and the Melbourne Cup’s vibrant legacy.
