After weeks of design, drafting, blocking, and building, it was time for "A Celebration of Light in Motion" to step into the spotlight.

This wasn’t just a hat. It was a story of transformation—handmade trims, shifting colours, and butterflies mid-flight—brought to life in full radiance under the photographer’s lens.

Photographer @richshawphoto captured the movement and elegance with breathtaking clarity, turning every curve and shimmer into art. The millinery made by me & the styling by Anita Marshall for the photo shoot, along with @teresamyers_’s poised presence, allowed the hat’s luminous texture to speak for itself. The rich copper tones of her gown echoed the golden light threaded through the design, what a perfect match if I do say so myself.

Makeup artist @pstasinosmakeup brought a fresh radiance that complemented the glow of holographic butterflies and the metallic lurex sinamay, echoing celebration and motion in perfect harmony.

A Celebration of Light in Motion

As the maker through this celebration of light in motion, I saw every layer of meaning unfold in my studio—the joy of creativity, the energy of celebration, and the magic that happens when craftsmanship meets camera. That custom wire-blocked brim curved just as I imagined, catching and reflecting light like a dance floor under fireworks.

This photoshoot captured the essence of the 2025 Millinery Australia Design Award theme: CELEBRATION. And for me, it’s a celebration of creative process, collaboration, and the light we each carry into the world.
